Simply defined, grief is the normal and natural reaction to significant emotional loss of any kind. While we never compare losses, any list would include death and divorce as obvious painful losses. Our list also includes many others; life transitions, retirement, moving, pet loss, financial and health issues among them. What we are "told" about dealing with loss is intellectual - "let go", "move on" - but we don't know how to do that. Grief is an emotional response to loss. Unresolved grief can interfere with everyday life and for many people, be diagnosed and treated as depression.

The Center will offer grief support groups for adults beginning in January. We will also provide unresolved grief work with adolescents and children.
